The adaptive path planning for additive manufacturing tries to correct the process to adapt the trajectories to avoid geometrical distortions produced during the 3D process.

Software shared in OpenLMD is intended for research, even so, it is being tested on an industrial facility.

OpenLMD enables direct robot programming for an automatic repair of complex metal parts in an industrial laser cladding cell.

Introduction

Three main functions are solved by this piece of software:

  1. To find the frame base of the piece.
  2. To project the point cloud in 2D as a Zmap.
  3. To measure in 3D using the 2D projection.

Main diagram for adaptive path planning along the LMD processing.

Steps for 3D processing:

  1. Record point cloud.
  2. Filter ponit cloud.
  3. Find plane/part (calculate frame).
  4. Project Zmap.
